Time flies when you’re having a blast. This has been the case since the inception of 18XEEM. Every issue has been an amazing experience, and an opportunity to learn and grow. On March 2nd, 18XEEM held its first ever Cultural Dialogue with (introducing) The Elite Group – a group of individuals passionate in preserving culture, history, and at the same time, making its own history and creating a unique outcome for the future.

The Elite Group is an extension project, which was started by a few individuals including myself, who felt it was important to hand-select certain individuals from different communities and backgrounds to discuss and brainstorm innovative and interesting stories that could potentially be featured in 18XEEM to further reach the goals and mission of 18XEEM.I found it ironic and amazing at the same time when I realized that as a small visionary project, 18XEEM started somewhere in the small space of my humble home with the goal to preserve parts of culture and history, but throughout our endeavors, we have also influenced culture, people, and events like never before, thus changing history in the making…

Language and art are two powerful tools, and we hope to never take too much advantage of it, which is why people of different backgrounds, ages, professions, experiences and knowledge were encouraged to join The Elite Group’s Cultural Dialogue, in hopes of gaining a better perspective on our culture and society. Next time, I invite you to share your story, so that someone else doesn’t write it for you! If you’re aching to tell someone something… please, don’t hesitate to send me an email. I promise, I’ll be quick in responding – my colleagues will attest to that!

This issue is dedicated to the beautiful women who have made our lives so much more meaningful – like our sisters, mothers, grandmothers, aunts… and of course, our friends. The women in these pages have one way or another empowered so many individuals on all different levels. I hope that you too will be motivated by their achievements and the strength of their spirits. I know, you are probably thinking, where’s the male’s section? Stay tuned until next time, and you’ll see!
