“New Breed is Yeng Vang, lead vocalist and guitarist, Xai Vang, on keyboards, and Houa Vang on bass and vocals. We are a Hmong Rock/Alternative/Pop band from Oroville, California and we have been making music for about six years and currently have 3 albums out, including our newest release Los Txog Hnub No.

We wrote a special song titled “Suab Ntsuag Tsov Rog” to remember our struggling Hmong people in the jungles of Laos. Although their voice couldn’t be heard, we’d like to think that the song we wrote was their voice. In that aspect, a lot of people were able to relate to our lyrics.”

Our musical hero in this issue is known as Knowstalgic, aka, Vong Lee. If you haven’t heard the track “30 Year Secret’ by Delicious Venom yet, then most likely you have no interaction with Hmong people (click here to visit their myspace page now!).

After the first time we ever heard the song, we realized we had to get in touch with the group. We finally got a hold of Vong and discovered that he, along with his older brother, Tou were the two members of the unique rap group, Delicious Venom.

We asked Vong about his inspirations and what his life was like growing up.! He shared with us other aspects of his life and what his plans are for the future. What we found was that he’s one hardworking and ambitious college kid who’s trying to succeed in all walks of life including music!
