Gran Torino is a movie that is being directed and played by Clint Eastwood and is set to shoot this July in southeast Michigan. Auditions have wrapped up in the past two weeks and the Hmong community has been anxiously speculating on both sides of the fence on how the story will unfold: Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski (played by Clint Eastwood) sets out to reform his neighbor, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal Kowalski’s prized possesion: his 1972 Gran Torino.
